“Where silence finds words, and words find their home.”
“I am Chhaya Kumari, a writer from Mithila, whose journey with words began as a personal escape and slowly became a way of shaping identity.”
"Writing, for me, is not just a method to converse it is an art to express my thoughts, a place where I belong, and the path through which I aspire to leave behind something meaningful."
Born and raised in Mithila, Bihar, I carry forward the spirit of my homeland where culture and stories live in every corner. Rooted in this heritage, my writing began as a way of self-expression and slowly grew into something larger — a journey of identity, persistence, and creating spaces for others.
Currently pursuing my MBA alongside writing, I continue to explore how words can open doors, build connections, and shape perspectives. My work spans poetry, reflective essays, and co-authored anthologies. My debut poetry collection explores themes of identity, resilience, and the beauty hidden in everyday struggles.
In 2023, I laid the foundation of Shadow of Mithila, a digital publishing community built on the belief that experience should not be a barrier. Unlike traditional spaces that demand “experience first,” Shadow of Mithila serves as a home where aspiring writers can gain their very first opportunities to learn, grow, and shine. Building on this vision, I launched SHABD, our monthly e-magazine that brings together thought-provoking articles, personal stories, and creative pieces — a reflection of my belief that literature can bridge gaps, spark conversations, and bring lasting impact.
For me, writing is not just a craft; it is where I belong. Each work I write is a piece of me, born from silence, shaped with words, and shared with the world. Beyond my own projects, I remain deeply committed to education, literature, and empowering voices that often go unheard, because I believe that every story, whether whispered or spoken aloud, has the power to transform.
